It’s really easy to accumulate a bunch of stuff, especially when you have young children. Between the Legos, action figures, stuffed animals, video games, technology and other toys – kids have it all these days. If you’re like me, seeing all the stuff laying around everywhere is enough to drive you batty. I absolutely hate having things in my home that aren’t useful or being used so I routinely go through my home purging those things.
So what do you do with an overabundance of stuff? You have lots of options – probably more than you realize!
1) Sell Your Stuff Online
Selling stuff online is actually quite popular and there are a variety of places to do so. This is a good way to get some money back for your stuff but it does require a bit of work on your part. You can choose to sell online locally or to ship your stuff to people worldwide – it’s up to you!
One such site that you UK readers might want to check out is Music Magpie. There you can sell clothes, technology, video games and more for cash.
2) Have a Yard Sale
Yard sales are also quite popular in the warmer months. I have made quite a bit of cash by having a successful yard sale. If you don’t mind staying at home all weekend to host the sale, I think yard sales are a great choice. I’ve actually met some great people from going to and holding yard sales. It’s quite fun!
3) Donate Your Stuff to a Charity
There are many charities around that you could donate your unwanted items to. In my area there are two different charities that will come to the house and pick things up at no charge. If you do decide to donate to a charity I recommend you ask for a receipt. That way you have record of what you donated and can write it off on your taxes.
Those are just three things that I have done to get rid of unused items around my home. What kinds of things do you do to keep the clutter at bay?

Yes! There are times I think it would be so much easier to just cart it out of the house and burn it in the backyard. Technically I could do that since I live in the county, but I wouldn’t. LOL!
