Rubbermaid has long been a brand known for helping folks store their food and other items. From their glass food storage to their sturdy coolers, Rubbermaid is the perfect partner for all of your recycling needs. Recycling is something my family would like to do more of, but the county charges for recycling. I realize the importance of recycling and once I figure out how to do it without paying an arm and a leg, I plan to do much more of it.
A few months ago I decided to go ahead and start saving our aluminum cans to take and recycle. My little brother saves the cans at my father’s house and they actually pay you to recycle them. He gets quite a bit of money from their cans so I thought I’d give it a go.
The problem is, we go through a lot of cans in the course of a week and I often run out of places to store them. I thought about buying a large trash can for the garage, but then Rubbermaid contacted me to review the Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler.
The Hidden Recycler is a new Rubbermaid product that allows you to store your recyclables in a hidden area underneath your cabinets. The Hidden Recycler attaches to your cabinet using either hooks or screws. The bag is made of a durable and washable material so it’s sure to last (and not stink up your house). It features a comfortable handle so you can easily transport your recyclables. The 5 gallon bag on the Hidden Recycler will hold up to 36 uncrushed cans and can also hold 1 gallon milk jugs.
We received the Hidden Recycler and my husband used the hooks to put it on a kitchen cabinet.
The Hidden Recycler was easy to install using the hooks. The bag has been doing a great job of holding the cans and it is leak-proof which is a great feature. I like that the bag is soft so as not to knock things in the cabinet over. However, it also takes up some cabinet space when it’s full. I can’t keep much under the cabinet when the Hidden Recycler is inside. This wouldn’t be a problem if you had a lot of cabinets, but I don’t.
Overall I think the Hidden Recycler is a great product but it’s just not right for our family. If you recycle and need a space to keep your recyclables hidden, it might be great for you.
The Hidden Recycler normally retails for $15.99. It is also available in my area at Meijer.
