Our Christmas
December 26th, 2008 by AndreaMy family had a very quiet and enjoyable Christmas. My oldest took forever to go to sleep because he was just so excited. We finally got the gifts under the tree by about 1 am and then headed off to bed. The boys woke us up just before 7 and were very excited that Santa had left them gifts. Santa brought my oldest an Air Hogs car that defies gravity and goes up the wall. And my youngest received a remote controlled Wall-E that he has been asking for since Wall-E first came out. They also received some much loved Play Doh anda couple Playstation 2 games. We limited ourselves to six gifts a piece (including Santa) this year not only because of our budget but also because they get so much from extended family every year. Last year the extended family got them way too much and they got tired of opening gifts. I hate that! So, this year I let our family know that we would appreciate it if they would just get maybe one gift for each child. Of course they had stockings full of candy (which they didn’t really need) and little trinkets too. I bought my husband a remote controlled helicopter which is what he has been wanting all year. He is a big kid at heart! I received a digital camera (woohoo!) to replace the one we have had since our oldest was born six years ago. I also received a reed diffuser from the boys and a heart necklace.
I made a nice ham and all the fixings for Christmas dinner which was enjoyed by all. I also made my first peanut butter pie and I must say it turned out really good. Our family loves peanut butter! After dinner my husband and I took a much needed nap while the children played with their toys.
How was your Christmas? Did you stay home like we did, or go out and visit family? I would love to hear how you celebrated the day of Jesus’ birth…

Sounds like a lovely day!
We were just at home and my sis & family came over for dinner. My 10 yr old got the anti gravity car too and loves it. He wanted one of those Wall-Es too. We are very mellow and put a limit on our spending. This year we upped it to $50 per kid, so needless to say they don't open much.

That peanut butter pie sounds delicious!
I saw that you were one of my followers and I don’t think I’ve visited you before! Your blog is completely adorable! I’m glad I clicked over.
Glad you had a great Christmas!

On Christmas day we visited my family, and my two younger sisters came there too, with their hubbies and children.
It was very, very hectic, and when I got home I collapsed in a heap on the couch, and didn’t come off again.
To be honest, I’m glad that next year we’ll just stay home.

My son got the wall-driving car too. I was surprised by how well it stayed on the wall! We’ve all had fun with that. It sounds like you had a great Christmas!

We spent Christmas at my mom’s farm. We took lots of pictures because my brother and sister in law couldn’t be there due to their daughter’s medical problems. So I took lots of videos and pictures for them. We did the same thing for the kids. We didn’t buy very many for them but they racked up at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Hope you have a Happy New Year! Any Plans?

We actually didn’t even get up until 11am and the kids weren’t up until noon. It was the latest Christmas start ever. Like you, we just do a few gifts and keep it simple. I think the kids enjoy Christmas more since we scaled back than they ever did before. Go figure.
