Both of my boys like to be read to. My five year old can’t read yet but my seven year old (Ethan) reads at a fifth grade level. However, my seven year old doesn’t enjoy reading. I wish he took after me and loved to read, but he took after his father instead. I recently got a DSi for him and I was thinking he should have some educational games to play on it. When the opportunity arose to review My Virtual Tutor: Reading I was thrilled!
My Virtual Tutor Reading is an educational game that helps with fluency, phonics, vocabulary and comprehension. I received the first grade to second grade version but they also have other versions. The My Virtual Tutor: Reading game includes the following:
~6 interactive books
~4 different play modes
~Self-guided staged learning advances along with the player
~Parent Mode that tracks your child’s progress (LOVE this!)
~Touch-screen playable and easy to use.
Did you know that university studies prove that programs from this curriculum improved student’s reading scores? How awesome is that?!?
Ethan really enjoys playing My Virtual Tutor: Reading although he says some of it is “too easy mom.” I think he would benefit more from the next level of the game. However, I do really like the game and think it is a great resource for parents and children alike. I plan on using this game to help my five year old next year when he is ready for the first grade curriculum.
My Virtual Tutor Reading is Moody Mama approved!
