Ended Throw a Gourmet Super Bowl Party!

by Andrea on January 30, 2010

One thing my family loves is football! We are glued to the TV every Sunday and Monday night through the entire season. Another thing my family enjoys is cheese. Cheese comes in so many different varieties and makes a great snack.

Alouette and Chavrie are two new (to us) brands of gourmet cheese. Alouette makes several different kinds of cheese including goat cheese and cheese spread. Chavrie is a creamy, decadent goat cheese which comes in logs and their traditional pyramid shaped packaging.

Alouette Soft Spreadable Cheese

We tried the Alouette Soft Spreadable Cheese and it was delicious! It is very rich and creamy and tastes great spread on vegetable flavored crackers. It was $3.98 at my local super store. I haven’t been able to find the Chavrie around here but I am dying to try it.

Two popular choices for Super Bowl parties are chips with dip and wings. Have you thought about mixing it up a bit this year? I have two recipes that I would like to share with you that would be great for a Super Bowl party. I haven’t tried either one yet but they do sound very good.

Alouette White Style Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 ready to use pizza crust (10-12″)
  • 1 pkg Alouette Garlic & Herbs or Alouette Creamy Onion & Shallots
  • 1 can anchovies, drained (Optional & I personally would leave this out)
  • 1 small sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 6 cherry tomatoes sliced
  • Nicoise or other black pitted olives halved
  • 1 tsp. Herbes de Provence (or 1/4 tsp. dried rosemary, marjoram, basil and thyme)
  • 1 tbsp. grated parmesan

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°
  2. Spread pizza crust with Alouette Spreadable Cheese.
  3. Arrange anchovies, onions, tomatoes and olives on pizza crust.
  4. Sprinkle with Herbes de Provence and parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until crust is golden.

Chavrie Cherry Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup Chavrie Goat Cheese
  • 1/2 cup half and half or milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 sweet Hawaiian dinner rolls, torn in 1 inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup dried tart cherries

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 325°. Butter 2 oven proof dishes or ramekins, 8-10 oz. each.
  2. Whisk together the egg, sugar and Chavrie in medium bowl. Whisk in the half and half and vanilla.
  3. Stir in the roll pieces and dried cherries until well coated.
  4. Let stand 5 minutes.
  5. Spoon evenly into dishes. Bake 25 to 28 minutes or until set and knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool 15 minutes. Serve topped with a small scoop of ice cream. Yum!

I realize that having a gourmet Super Bowl party may take a little more time that you may not have. But, if you have an extra few minutes it might be worth it to have a Gourmet Super Bowl. If these recipes don’t appeal to you there are tons more great recipes on the Alouette and Chavrie websites. You can also connect with Alouette on Twitter @alouettecheese and Chavrie on Twitter @chavrie.

This recipe would be perfect with garden vegetables too!!

Alouette® Summer Vegetables Recipe

Ingredients

2 medium red bell peppers, cut in strips
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
3 cups fesh broccoli florets
3 cups summer squash (any type), sliced
1 pkg. (6.5 oz.) Alouette Garlic & Herbs or Alouette Creamy Onion & Shallots Spreadable Cheese

Directions

Pre-heat grill to medium high.
Open aluminum foil cooking bag and layer vegetables evenly inside bag.
Spoon Alouette Garlic & Herbs Spreadable Cheese on top of vegetables.
Seal bag by double folding end. Place on grill, cover, and cook 8 to 10 minutes.
Using oven mitts, carefully place bag on baking sheet and cut open, allowing steam to escape. If bag sticks to the grill, cut open and remove vegetables.

For Oven Cooking:
Pre-heat oven to 450° F. Insert ingredients in aluminum foil cooking bag as directed above.
Place sealed bag on baking sheet and bake 20-25 minutes.

Uhh The Colts defense has had to play without three key starters for a long time. Powers didnt play vs The Jets, so he could heal. Brock is still a starter just not at DE because Mathis and Freeney are so good. The Saints on the other hand have a bad defense and Manning will kill them up. Brees will fumble the ball at least once and turn it over. Take a look at his record, he lost 6/10 fumbles for the season. The saints defense will lose it for them. On the other hand The Colts defense has gotten better each game. The saints arent very good closers, the Colts are the best at playing 60 mins. Colts by at least 2 tds.

I’d love to try Chavrie® Stuffed Turkey Burgers. We use ground turkey for a number of recipes. Turkey burgers are all about the seasoning you put in the meat. Haven’t tried stuffing them with cheese and it certainly sounds like a winner.
