We don’t watch many animated movies as a family anymore but my sons and I are so excited for this new movie from The Weinstein Company called Escape From Planet Earth. The movie is a 3D comedy that is sure to be enjoyed by the whole family. ![]()
Escape From Planet Earth starts off on the planet BAAB where Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is the admired leader and hero of the blue alien population. Scorch is the master of daring rescues and is always accomplishing new feats with the help of his nerdy brother, Gary (Rob Corddry). Gary is the mastermind behind Scorch’s missions and is always rescuing his brother from sticky situations.
The planet BAAB has their own aeronautics and space administration (like our NASA) called BASA where Gary is the head of mission control. Gary’s wife, Kira (Sarah Jessica Parker) is the intelligent test pilot for BASA. Together they have a son named Kip (Jonathon Morgan Heit) who idolizes his uncle Scorch.
Other characters in the movie include:
Lena (Jessica Alba) who is the head of BASA.
Shanker (William Shatner) who is a military leader that has it out for aliens. He is also in charge of Area 51 on Planet Earth.
Doc (Craig Robinson), Io (Jane Lynch) and Thurman (George Lopez) are three aliens who are trapped at Area 51 by Shanker They work for Shanker in hopes that he’ll someday let them leave Area 51.
When BASA’s leader, Lena tells Scorch about an SOS from another planet, Scorch bounds off on another mission despite discouragement from his brother Gary. When Scorch is caught in a trap by the evil Shanker, Gary must act quickly to rescue him – and his family (Kira & Kip).
