Busytown Mysteries is a new children’s series that is based on the works of best-selling author Richard Scarry. Mr. Scarry has sold over 150 million books worldwide and is a well known children’s author. Before doing this review I had heard of Richard Scarry but hadn’t read any of his books. Nonetheless, I was excited to introduce my boys to this great series. I received a DVD that included two episodes for review.
Being the busy mommy that I am I didn’t have the time to sit and watch the DVD with the boys but I did sneak in and snap this picture of my youngest who was enthralled with the cartoon.

The boys really seemed to enjoy both episodes and watched the DVD twice in one sitting! Busytown Mysteries engages children with fun storylines and lovable characters while introducing them to dedeuctive reasoning such as who, what, when, where and why. I love that this series is fun and educational at the same time.
Busytown Mysteries is also online at busytownmysteries.com. The website is an interactive website for kids where kids can explore different neighborhoods in Busytown, interact with the Busytown characters and play 14 games and activities designed for preschoolers. The site includes interactive games, a fan club and “my first email” which allows preschoolers to email their friends and family with their progress. The email is for use with pre-approved addresses only.
My five year old enjoyed the website and played for quite a while before getting bored. My 7 year old did not have any interest in the site. I would recommend the Busytown Mysteries television series and website to any parent of preschool aged children.
Busytown Mysteries airs on CBS in the mornings on the weekends. The program is a half an hour long and is made up of two 11 minute episodes. You can check your local listings here to find out what time the Busytown Mysteries airs in your area.
I would like to think One2One Network for this review opportunity. The opinions expressed here are my own. You may have a different opinion about this show.
