Book Review: How To Never Look Fat Again

by Andrea on February 20, 2010

Last week I received a copy of the book How To Never Look Fat Again by Charla Krupp. When I first heard about the book I was excited to delve into it. All my life I have been the “chubby girl.” I have also always had to be careful about how I dress so that I don’t walk around feeling like I look fat. Well, I guess all women do that don’t we?

How To Never Look Fat Again is an amazing resource that any woman could use to help gain confidence. This book is so easy to read and the author makes it a fun book too. Charla explains her methods as the “No Fat Clothes Diet.” The book teaches you how to think of each piece of clothing in terms of how fattening it is on you. There is high fat, low fat and no fat. The goal is to never wear high fat clothing and to try to wear no fat as much as possible.

How To Never Look Fat AgainThe book is sectioned by body parts. One of my problem areas is my tummy. So I immediately turned to chapter 7 titled “Buddha Belly.” The chapter is all about ways to disguise your belly using undergarment shapers, different fabrics and different cuts of tops, bottoms and dresses. It even tells you which shoes will make you look leaner. Each chapter has pictures of a high fat look for your problem area versus a low fat look. There is also an “instant gratification” section that tells you ways to instantly look thinner. There are also discussions from numerous doctors and experts about the different surgeries and procedures you can have to look better. Personally I thought that part could have been left out. But I understand why it’s in there since so many people contemplate and eventually have these cosmetic procedures. At the end of the chapter is a section called “Brilliant Buys” that tells you some articles of clothing or makeup that Charla recommends.

The problem areas addressed in the book are:

  • Wide Face
  • Thick Neck & Broad Shoulders
  • Arm Flap
  • Big Bust
  • Muffin Top & Back Fat
  • Wide Hips & Thighs
  • Big Booty
  • Heavy Calves
  • Wide Feet & Ankles

The last several chapters of the book focus on How To Never Look Fat Again in summer, winter, while exercising and in the evening.

How To Never Look Fat Again is my new favorite book. I just loved reading through it and learning how to dress more confidently. I normally buy things that are a bit big on my to disguise my problems areas. One thing I learned is that it is better to wear fitted garments with some shapewear underneath. I was so impressed with this book I took some of her advice and ordered some Spanx to try out! I will also be going through my closet to thin out things that are high fat that I don’t want to wear. How To Never Look Fat Again has helped me learn how to shop to accentuate what I have and downplay my many flaws. No more wasted money on clothes that sit in the closet with tags on them or that rarely get worn! I hope that I will have gained some self confidence knowing that if I follow Charla’s advice I will never have to worry about looking fat again. I love that the back of the book has a large shopping guide to tell you where to shop to find flattering clothing for larger women.

Charla Krupp has another best-selling book called How Not To Look Old. She is a professional style expert that has worked for The Today Show and over 30 other TV shows. She is also the former beauty director at Glamour magazine. In other words, she knows her stuff!

How To Never Look Fat Again can be purchased through Amazon for $17.81.

I think it is important to note that Charla recommends throughout the book to exercise and live a healthy lifestyle.

Thank you to The PR Place for providing the venue for me to secure this review. I received a copy of the book for review purposes. The opinions expressed here are my genuine opinions. You may feel differently about this book.
